The effect of different alcohol fuels on the performance, emission and combustion characteristics of a gasoline engine

چکیده
In this experimental study, the effect of alcohol (ethanol and methanol) use on the performance, emissions and combustion characteristics of a low power single-cylinder engine described the rated power output of the engine e.g. 2 kW were investigated and the results were compared with conventional gasoline operation. The tests were performed at full-throttle valve opening and variable engine speeds. The results show that the use of alcohol fuels increased the engine torque, brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC), thermal efficiency and combustion efficiency. In addition, the cylinder gas pressure and heat release rate occurred earlier; carbon dioxide (CO2) emission increased while hydrocarbon (HC), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions decreased. 2012 Elsevier Ltd. The Effects of Ethanol–gasoline Blend on Performance and Exhaust Emission Characteristics of Spark Ignition Engines
The effects of unleaded gasoline and unleaded gasoline–ethanol blends on engine performance and pollutant emissions were investigated experimentally in a single cylinder, four-stroke spark-ignition engine with variable engine speeds (2600–3500 rpm). Four different blends on a volume basis were applied. These are E0 (0% ethanol + 100% unleaded gasoline), E3 (3% ethanol + 97% unleaded gasoline), ...

متن کاملEffect of Injection Characteristics on Emissions and Combustion of a Gasoline Fuelled Partially-premixed Compression Ignition Engine
Conventional compression ignition (CI) engines are known for their high thermal efficiency compared to spark ignited (SI) engines. Gasoline because of its higher ignition delay has much lower soot emission in comparison with diesel fuel. Using double injection strategy reduces the maximum heat release rate that leads to NOx emission reduction. In this paper, a numerical study of a gasoline fuel...
